Founded in February 2000 by Mac McCarthy, The Search Equation, based in Swindon, provides a full range of expert SEO, web design and Google Ads services to help businesses attract targeted traffic to their websites and physical locations to increase sales.

The Search Equation is a company that values openness, clear communication, and delivering results for its clients. They aim to help businesses connect with their ideal customers online while ensuring the investment in online marketing generates a good return. They use real-world data, so clients’ websites and business profiles are seen by the right people at the right time.

About the Founder

Mac McCarthy

Mac McCarthy has been involved in the digital marketing field for over 20 years, having worked with the Jeeves, Alta Vista and Yahoo search engines in the early 90’s through to the modern current day Google and Bing platforms.

One of the early uses on Affiliate marketing programs such as Click Bank and selling on Ebay, he become fascinated with the sheer speed of technology change with online marketing.

After seeing an opening in this new “online order”, he successfully built his own digital agency over the next 15 years, working with National and local businesses across a wide range of industries including technology, real estate, lifestyle, B2B, gaming, finance, legal and manufacturing.

He backed up his own experience qualifications taken and passed include Google Advanced Analytics, Google Adwords, Google Search, and the Google Partnership Program.

He has continually helped start ups and new businesses in navigate the SEO landscape, many of whom, after 10 years, remain clients today in 2024.

More recently he is worked with the World Wildlife Fund (https://www.wwf.org.uk/) in a SEO consultancy position which he believes is his most satisfying role to date, bearing in mind his commitment and passion for wildlife and natural history.

Still committed to teaching and helping young businesses, he know sees the advent of AI as a game changer in the digital landscape and keenly follows its development and how it impacts companies operating online.
