Founded in February 2000 by Mac McCarthy, The Search Equation, based in Swindon, provides a full range of professional SEO, web design and Google Ads services to help businesses attract targeted traffic to their websites and physical locations to increase sales.

Mac McCarthy has been involved in digital marketing for over 20 years, having worked with the Jeeves, Alta Vista and Yahoo search engines in the early 90s through to the current Google and Bing platforms.
One of the early users involved with affiliate marketing platforms such as ClickBank and selling on eBay, he became intrigued with the possibilities for small businesses through online marketing.
Over the next 15 years, he successfully built his digital agency , working with national and local businesses across various industries, including technology, real estate, lifestyle, B2B, gaming, finance, legal and manufacturing.
He is certified as an expert in Google Advanced Analytics, Google Ads, Google Search, and the Google Partnership Program.
He has helped numerous start ups and new businesses navigate the SEO landscape, many of whom, after 10 years, remain clients today in 2024.
More recently, he has worked with the World Wildlife Fund in an SEO consultancy position, which he believes is his most satisfying role to date, bearing in mind his commitment and passion for wildlife and natural history.
Still committed to helping young businesses, he now sees the advent of AI as a game changer in the digital landscape and keenly follows its development and how it can positively impact online companies.
