The first question would be why? You need social media despite what anyone may say. Social media can be a free (yes we said free) marketing tool to get your business more exposure and ultimately more traffic to your website.

Why you need social media?

Well simply put every business around the world has some sort of social media presence. Be it on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest or Twitter as just a few examples. Social media for any business is no longer seen as optional but more as a necessity. It is an essential way to reach your customers, gain valuable insights, and grow your brand. Social media is becoming more and more an important part of any companies marketing strategy.

And here are just some of the benefits of having a social media presence.

Increase website traffic

As discussed earlier social media can ultimately increase traffic to your website through social media posts and ad. Sharing content from your blog or website to your social media channels is a great way to get that traffic as soon as you publish new content.

Brand Awareness

Every brand wants to be instantly recognisable and social media is a brilliant way to get your brand’s name out there. Sprout Social have reported that a marketers’ biggest challenge is to increase brand awareness, with over 70% choosing this option while second to this is sales or lead generation (59%). Other set goals include increasing community engagement (48%), growing the brand’s audience (46%) and increasing web traffic (45%). These figures show that while social media is increasingly becoming a space for selling a brand or product or for directing traffic, it is still predominantly all about increasing that brand awareness.

Promoting your products and services

The end game is to get your product or service or brand under the noses of your potential customers and with over 1.69 billion users on Facebook, nearly 1 billion on Instagram, 330 million on twitter and over 2 billion as of 2020 on YouTube social media is certainly king when it comes to a quick marketing solution and to get your product out there.

Customer Engagement & Support

Social media gives you the opportunity to interact directly with your customers and your fans, and deal with any issues or problems quickly. Likewise it gives them the chance to interact directly with your brand and also quickly have any problems or issues resolved. Unlike old fashioned media, which offers only one-way communication, social media is a two-way street and the more you interact with your audience the more trust it builds for your brand. If you want customers and followers to be engaged, you have to be engaged yourself. Stay active and respond to comments and questions on your own social media posts in a way that’s appropriate to your brand.
